While you stay with us, plan for a bit of adventure and sightseeing. Escape to the tropical paradise of Gili Trawangan Island, the largest and most popular of the three Gili Islands located off the northwest coast of Lombok. This enchanting island offers a wealth of natural beauty, vibrant nightlife, and unforgettable experiences, making it a must-visit destination for travelers.

Gili Trawangan rises significantly above sea level, standing at an elevation of 30 meters, a remarkable feat for an island in the region. Spanning a length of 3 kilometers and a width of 2 kilometers, the island presents a compact yet diverse landscape waiting to be explored.

You’re probably asking, ‘how can I get there?’ We’re glad you asked! It’s great fun. To reach Gili Trawangan Island from Sunset Springs Beach Retreat, you have a couple of options. One popular choice is to take a combination of a car drive and a fast boat ride. Begin your journey with a scenic car drive to Padang Bai or Amed Harbor in Bali, where you can board a fast boat bound for Gili Trawangan. The boat ride typically takes 1.5 to 2 hours, offering you the opportunity to enjoy the mesmerizing views of the sea and the surrounding islands. It is important to note that the duration of the boat ride may vary depending on the departure point and weather conditions.

Alternatively, you can also purchase tickets directly at the harbor or through any travel booths across the island. However, it is advisable to buy tickets at the ticket office by the jetty to ensure a fair price and a smooth journey. If you like the idea of embedding yourself in the culture, you could also take the Public Ferry from Padang Bai. Although we do warn you that the ferry ride may take longer than the fast boats, but it is a more budget-friendly option, and extremely popular with backpackers too.

However, if you choose to get there, upon arriving you’ll be greeted by its vibrant atmosphere and picturesque landscapes. The island offers a delightful mix of sandy beaches, swaying palm trees, and turquoise waters that beckon you to dive in and explore its vibrant coral reefs. Snorkeling and diving enthusiasts will find themselves immersed in an underwater world teeming with marine life and colorful coral formations.

When you are not basking in the sun or exploring the underwater wonders, indulge in the island’s lively ambiance. Gili Trawangan is known for its vibrant nightlife, with a variety of bars and restaurants that cater to different tastes and preferences. And for those staying a little longer…dance the night away under the starry sky, savor delicious culinary delights, and immerse yourself in the vibrant energy that permeates the island.

In keeping with principles of environmental management, motorised vehicles are prohibited. But fear not! Exploring this island is an adventure, and visitors can traverse the island on foot, rent bicycles to leisurely explore its hidden corners, or hop aboard a horse-drawn carriage, known locally as a cidomo, for a unique and traditional mode of transportation.

For the adventurous, there are two other famous islands to explore in the region. If you have the time, you can take an island-hopping boat service that loops between Gili Trawangan, Gili Air, and Gili Meno twice daily. We recommend that you check the schedule and availability with reception and plan your trip accordingly.

As you bid farewell to this tropical haven, carry with you the warmth of its hospitality and the allure of its natural wonders, knowing that you are just a boat ride away from the serenity of Sunset Springs Beach Retreat.
